How to Get Away With Statistics: Gamification of Multivariate Statistics

In this article, we discuss our attempt to teach applied statistics techniques typically taught in advanced courses, such as clustering and principal component analysis, a non-mathematical educated audience. Considering the negative attitude inclination toward mathematical disciplines of students introduce them topics using four different games. The games are all user-centric, score-based arcade experiences intended be played under supervision an instructor. They developed Shiny web-based application framework for R. every activity have follow instructions interact with plots minimize score statistical meaning. No other knowledge than elementary geometry Euclidean distance is required complete tasks. Results from student questionnaire give us some confidence that experience has benefited students, not only terms their ability understand use explained methods but also regarding overall satisfaction course. This fact suggests these or similar activities could greatly improve diffusion thinking at levels education.
